Through a partnership with Open Roads Academy, the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns is again participating in the Changemakers leadership development and community engagement program for adolescent Latinas focusing on civic engagement. It includes a week-long adventure into the wilderness including a four-day river trip in Utah with peers from Ossining and Peekskill. The students will enjoy hiking, learning from one another, building new friendships, and taking in some incredible scenery.
Again this year, Kids’ Club provided additional financial support to the program, which serves high-character young adults who demonstrate leadership potential, and who are from low-income families. Changemakers is all about helping young women find their voice and lead with confidence, and this trip is a chance to put those skills into practice beyond the classroom.
We’re so proud of these outstanding students and can’t wait to hear about their adventures when they return!
