Kids’ Club donors outdid themselves this month, donating more than $7,500 in Target and Amazon gift cards for underserved members of Sleepy Hollow High School’s Class of 2021. In lieu of an in-person college dorm bedding and supply drive, due to continuing Covid-19 precautions, Kids’ Club encouraged donations of electronic gift cards for the students. The result was outstanding, allowing 68 students to benefit from the generosity of the community.
SHHS Guidance Department Chair David Ziegler, whose department helped select eligible students to receive the gift cards, expressed appreciation to the donors: “Thanks to your incredible generosity, especially in this unprecedented time, we were able to help 68 seniors lessen the burden of the expenses associated with going to college.” He also shared a list of the many fine colleges, including Johns Hopkins University, Westchester Community College, Pace University, Cornell University and many SUNY schools, where the students will be studying in the fall.
Kids’ Club joins Mr. Ziegler in thanking donors for rallying around this gift card drive. It means so much to know that in good times and in more challenging ones, we can rely on this community’s generosity and support.
