For young musicians, private instruction makes such a difference in their development and success. But not all students can afford that expense. MusicWorks, with financial support from Kids’ Club, gives music students that opportunity, regardless of their ability to pay.
Jason, a seventh grader at Sleepy Hollow Middle School, is one such student enjoying the benefits of private trumpet lessons through this program. Jason started playing trumpet in third grade, and participated in the program virtually last year. Today, he met with his 2021-22 instructor, Robert, for the first time. The lesson was 45 minutes long and included reviews of time and key signatures, tempo, scales, and more. Jason and Robert will continue to meet weekly as Jason prepares for his NYSSMA audition in the spring. Good luck to Jason and all of the program participants!
