Tarrytown’s Day and Tot Camps welcomed Tania Sanchez as their new director this year. Unlike in the past when Day Camp was held at Washington Irving School and Tot Camp at John Paulding, this year both camps were combined and held at W.I., with Sanchez supervising both. This change has improved staffing flexibility, resource coordination (sports and arts supplies) and other efficiencies for the camps, which serve children from 3-12 years old for up to six weeks in July and August. Kids’ Club again awarded a grant to the Village of Tarrytown to help with scholarships for campers whose families cannot afford to pay the full enrollment costs.
Daily activities at W.I. include Game Room, Arts Room, Music Room, Theater Arts, Gym, 2 sports fields, and one playground. Pool days are twice a week, alternating days for tots and older campers. Field trips include Sport Time, Quassy Park, Urban Air Trampoline, and a minor league baseball game. In addition, the camp now sends a weekly newsletter via email to all the families with photos of the campers and reminders for the week’s themes and planned activities. All registrations are also now done online.
